Counselling
Counselling can help you if you have worries or difficulties that are affecting your life and causing you to lose confidence or feel anxious or depressed.
I aim to provide a safe, confidential place for you to talk about what is troubling you without being judged or told what to do. It can help you to see your situation more clearly, in order to find a way forward by making changes or by learning to accept things as they are. You will learn to live more resourcefully.
You may need just a few sessions to explore a current situation or may want longer term therapy to look at something that has been troubling you for a long time.
Your first session with me will be an assessment of what you need and what you are expecting. It will give you an opportunity to ask questions and puts you under no obligation to continue. If you decide to have more sessions, I will regularly review our work together, discussing progress and checking that you are getting what you need.
During our sessions you will always be the focus of my attention and I will value you as a unique person and an equal.
My approach to counselling is eclectic and I draw on a number of models of counselling including CBT and humanistic approaches. I also teach the practice of Mindfulness within individual therapy and as an eight week group programme.
I am a Registered and Senior Accredited Member of BACP.
Relationship Counselling
Relationships can be challenging and it is not unusual to hit a rough patch at some time. It can be difficult to find a way forward.
As a relationship counsellor, I can help you to explore difficult things and listen to each other's point of view. It can be very helpful to have a neutral third party who is listening carefully to you both.
I can also help you to find strategies that can improve your relationship and give you the opportunity to work on these together between sessions.
If you were to decide that the best way forward was to separate, I could help you to do this in the best and least painful way.
Your first session with me would be an assessment of what you need and expect, with no obligation to continue.
Life Coaching
Coaching will help you develop your potential in a chosen area of your life. For example, you may want to progress your career and feel stuck; you may want to make a career change and find decision making difficult; you may want a better work/life balance; you may want a healthier life style.
Coaching is about facilitating change. I will help you to identify goals and draw up an action plan. I will then work with you to monitor progress, identify helping and hindering factors, modify goals if necessary and to know when you have achieved the change you desire.
Having some coaching sessions can be a very motivating and energising experience.
I have undertaken training with the Coaching Academy and am a member of BACP's Coaching Division.
